Paint the smooth side of the plywood with the black chalkboard paint.
Paint all sides of the fence board pieces with white spray paint. Allow plywood and fence board pieces to dry completely.
Dry-brush grey wood stain onto the fence board pieces. Allow to dry completely.
Working with one side of the easel, hot glue the two long pieces of fence board to the chalkboard side of the plywood on opposite sides. To make sure that they are straight and placed exactly where I wanted, I laid-out all the pieces together. Note that 2-3 inches of overhang on these long pieces creates the “legs” of the easel, so make sure to leave that.
Hot glue the two short pieces of fence board to the chalkboard side of the plywood on opposite sides, between the two long pieces of fence board.
Allow hot glue to dry completely.
Repeat with the other side of the easel.
Place the two sides of the easel face-down, with their tops aligned.
Attach the hinges to the backside of each easel, carefully aligned. I placed a drop of hot glue behind each hinge to make sure it didn’t move while I placed the screws.
Fold the easel closed and take it to its new home!
